Pakistan Strikes Bagram Airbase in Major Retaliation

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan said it carried out airstrikes on Afghanistan’s strategically significant Bagram Airbase, describing the operation as part of a broader retaliatory campaign against what it called aggression by the Afghan Taliban.

According to security sources, the Pakistan Air Force targeted key infrastructure at the airbase, including an aircraft hangar and two warehouses. Satellite imagery cited by international media outlets, including The New York Times, reportedly confirmed damage at the site.

Officials said the strikes were conducted under “Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq,” a military campaign launched in response to recent cross-border attacks. Authorities claimed that more than 400 Taliban fighters had been killed so far, with 51 locations inside Afghanistan targeted through air operations and more than 630 injured.

In addition to airstrikes, the Pakistan Army reportedly destroyed 188 Afghan Taliban check posts and captured 31 others during retaliatory ground operations. Security officials also claimed the destruction of tanks, armored vehicles and artillery assets.

A day earlier, Pakistani forces said they had struck an ammunition depot and a drone storage facility in Jalalabad as part of the ongoing campaign.

There was no immediate response from the Afghan Taliban authorities regarding the reported casualties and damage. Independent verification of the figures was not immediately possible.

The escalating military exchanges have raised concerns about broader instability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, amid heightened regional tensions.
