Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Senate of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution condemning Afghanistan’s recent aggressive actions along the western border. The resolution called on the international community to take immediate notice of Kabul’s disregard for regional peace and warned against interpreting Pakistan’s desire for stability as a sign of weakness.
The resolution emphasized that Pakistan will not compromise on its national dignity or sovereignty and that any hostile act will be met with a measured and effective response. Senators stressed the importance of unity, rising above political differences in defense of national security.
The resolution also praised the bravery, professionalism, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces, stating that they have consistently remained steadfast in protecting the homeland. Senators highlighted that over the past four decades, Pakistan has faced extraordinary social, economic, and security challenges, with cross-border incursions and the presence of anti-Pakistan terrorist elements reflecting Afghanistan’s non-cooperative stance.
It called on Afghanistan to immediately halt all hostile activities and prevent its territory from being used for terrorism. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to international obligations and regional stability.
PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar remarked that any threat to the country would be met with a strong and unified response. He further advocated for a regional security framework, involving all stakeholders in the region, to effectively address terrorism and cross-border security challenges.
Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani stated that the Senate stands firmly with the Pakistan Army, endorsing its recent operations against terrorist elements. The Senate session was adjourned until Monday at 2:00 pm.
