Security sources say five militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Bara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while two others were killed in Chaghi, Balochistan.
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistan’s security forces killed seven militants in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to security sources cited by local media on Tuesday.
Five militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Bara, where security forces acted after receiving information about the presence of militants described by the sources as belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij. According to the report, troops engaged the militants and destroyed their hideouts during the operation.
Security forces also recovered a large quantity of explosives and ammunition from the militants, the report said. The security sources reiterated that counterterrorism operations would continue under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign.
In a separate operation in Nokcha area of Chaghi district, Balochistan, security forces killed two militants under what the report described as Operation Riddal Fitna.
According to security sources, the two militants had allegedly set fire to empty water bowsers and attempted to flee before being engaged by security personnel. The report also linked them to previous incidents of arson along the N-40 Highway.
The source described all seven militants as “Indian-sponsored.” That attribution is a claim by Pakistani security sources and was not independently verified in the reporting reviewed for this article. The Indian government’s response to the specific allegation was not available in the sources reviewed.
The latest operations come amid an intensified counterterrorism campaign in Balochistan. On September 27, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said more than 71 militants had been killed during operations in different parts of the province over the preceding 96 hours.
ISPR similarly described those militants as Indian-backed or sponsored, while reporting operations in Shaban, Nushki and Mand. Those foreign-sponsorship allegations are Pakistani military claims and should be presented with attribution unless independently substantiated.
