Pakistan responds after UK, European airports come under cyberattack

KARACHI: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed on Saturday that all Pakistani airports are safe from the cyberattack and operations at airports across the country are continuing as usual.
PAA said that all software systems are functional as usual and immigration, airlines, GHEs and Riza systems are working smoothly. No airport has reported any glitches, cyber threats or software malfunctions.
The PAA remarks came after a cyberattack hit several airports in the UK and Europe. Major airports including London’s Heathrow Airport were affected by the cyberattack. Operations at Brussels and Berlin airports were also affected and flights were delayed.
The cyberattack rendered electronic check-in system inoperative at airports, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. Flights were cancelled at some airports and several flights were delays for hours.
Collins Aerospace system was affected and the company confirms it was facing a technical issue.
