Pakistan gains EU support on Afghan militancy concerns

Date:

(Web Desk) – The European Union has endorsed Pakistan’s concerns regarding militant safe havens in Afghanistan, a development Islamabad views as a major diplomatic success.

EU Ambassador Raimondas Karoblis stated that Pakistan’s position on cross-border militancy is grounded in real and pressing security concerns.

Karoblis emphasised that Pakistan’s demand for the Afghan Taliban to take action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is reasonable and justified.

The EU envoy reiterated that the European Union condemns all forms of terrorism and acknowledges the security threats Pakistan faces from across the border.

According to the envoy, militant groups based inside Afghanistan have been involved in several recent attacks carried out in Pakistan.

Islamabad maintains that its stance is supported by concrete evidence indicating the presence and activities of such groups on Afghan soil.

Officials in Pakistan view the EU’s validation of these concerns as an important step toward international recognition of the challenges posed by cross-border militancy.
