Peshawar, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistani security forces have killed eight militants during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops acted on credible intelligence regarding the movement of militants linked to the group referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.” Security forces launched a swift and targeted operation, resulting in the killing of eight militants.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site, the military added.
The ISPR stated that a clearance operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants, emphasizing that security forces will continue operations until terrorism is completely eradicated.
In its statement, the military also criticized the Afghan Taliban authorities, saying they have failed to effectively manage border responsibilities. It urged Kabul to prevent the use of Afghan territory by militant groups and stop cross-border infiltration into Pakistan.
Pakistan has repeatedly called for stronger cooperation from Afghanistan to curb militancy, as security concerns along the border continue to pose challenges for regional stability.
