WASHINGTON – Web Desk: Major progress has been made in Pakistan-US relations, with Pakistan emerging as a significant and unexpected partner of the Trump administration, according to the renowned American website Vox.
According to Vox’s analysis, Pakistan emerged as a key diplomatic mediator in the 2026 US-Iran conflict, playing a central role in communications, ceasefire, and the negotiation process between the US and Iran, with Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif leading diplomatic efforts. Pakistan hosted the highest-level talks between the US and Iran since 1979, with both Washington and Tehran considering Pakistan a reliable interlocutor and mediator.
Unlike Trump’s first term, the administration has made a historic policy shift toward Islamabad, with progress continuing on counter-terrorism cooperation and major agreements between Pakistan and the US. Major deals have been finalized between Pakistan and the US in the crypto and rare minerals sectors. Due to changing US priorities, Pakistan’s regional and global importance has significantly increased, as Pakistan has managed to maintain effective ties simultaneously with the US, China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
The analysis noted that Pakistan has further strengthened its international reputation and influence in resolving global conflicts, establishing itself as an indispensable diplomatic partner at regional and global levels.
