ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Web Desk : Rehearsals for the flypast ahead of Pakistan Day celebrations on March 23 have begun, prompting temporary restrictions on commercial flight operations in parts of the country.
According to officials, several sectors within the Lahore Flight Information Region will remain closed for commercial aircraft during the exercise period.
The flypast rehearsal is being conducted on March 12 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., during which takeoffs and landings for commercial flights at Islamabad International Airport have been temporarily suspended.
Airlines have also been advised to ensure that aircraft carry additional fuel to accommodate potential delays while operating in the restricted airspace.
Officials said that some commercial flights have also been temporarily halted at Jinnah International Airport due to the exercise. A flight operated by AirSial from Karachi to Islamabad was among those delayed during the restrictions.
Flights will resume once normal air operations are restored at Islamabad airport.
The Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) informing airlines and aviation operators about the temporary airspace restrictions related to the flypast rehearsals.
