ISPR says the Fatah-2 ER features advanced navigation and avionics, with capabilities designed for precision strikes and improved manoeuvrability.
Web Desk: The Pakistan Army has successfully test-launched the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Tuesday.
According to ISPR, the Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation and state-of-the-art avionics. The military said its trajectory and manoeuvrability features are designed to support precision targeting and help the missile overcome enemy missile defence systems.
The extended-range variant is expected to increase the Pakistan Army’s ability to engage targets at greater distances, the statement added.
ISPR outlines Fatah-2 missile capabilities
ISPR said the Fatah-2 ER can engage targets with high precision and has features intended to improve its ability to penetrate missile defence systems.
However, the announcement did not provide a specific maximum range, details of the test’s flight performance or independently verifiable technical measurements.
The missile’s described capabilities and the assessment of the test’s success are based on the military’s statement. Further technical details were not included in the announcement.
Army Rocket Force Command witnesses test
The launch was witnessed by the Commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, senior Pakistan Army officers, and scientists and engineers associated with the programme, according to ISPR.
The commander praised the dedication and technical expertise of the scientists and engineers involved in developing the weapon system, the statement said.
ISPR also said President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the test launch.
Pakistan’s missile development programme
Pakistan has continued to conduct tests involving domestically developed missile systems. In April 2026, ISPR announced a training launch of the Fateh-II missile system, describing it as an exercise to train troops, validate technical parameters and evaluate system performance.
The latest announcement concerns the extended-range version of Fatah-2. The April training launch and the October test are separate reported events.
