The agreement was reached during a meeting between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev on the sidelines of a regional security conference in Bishkek.

Naqvi is in Kyrgyzstan to attend a gathering of interior and public security ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, where discussions focused on counterterrorism, law enforcement coordination, and regional security challenges linked to Afghanistan.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to curb illegal immigration and facilitate the repatriation of citizens, while also enhancing collaboration in counter-narcotics efforts and disrupting drug trafficking networks.

In separate bilateral meetings, Naqvi discussed security concerns stemming from Afghanistan with Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, including alleged terrorist camps and narcotics production.

He also held talks with Uzbek Interior Minister Aziz Tashpulatov, focusing on expanding law enforcement cooperation and joint training programmes.

During his meeting with Kyrgyz Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov, both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in security-related areas. Naqvi also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

In a separate engagement, Naqvi met Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov. Both countries agreed to establish a joint working group to strengthen coordination on migration and law enforcement issues.

Officials said the discussions reflect growing regional efforts to address transnational crime, border security, and terrorism-related challenges.
