Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan and 13 other countries have strongly condemned recent remarks by the United States ambassador to Israel regarding Israel’s territorial expansion, calling the statement a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
In a joint statement issued on Sunday, foreign ministers from Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Kuwait, Oman, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine expressed deep concern over the comments made by US Ambassador Mike Huckabee.
According to media reports, Huckabee said in an interview that he would have no objection if Israel gained control over large areas of the Middle East, linking Israel’s borders to biblical references. The countries described such remarks as a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The joint communiqué, supported by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reaffirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories or any other Arab lands.
The statement rejected any attempt to annex the West Bank or separate Gaza and reiterated support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. It stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders remains the only guarantee for lasting peace in the region.
The countries warned that inflammatory statements increase tensions and undermine peace efforts, urging an immediate halt to such rhetoric.
