PAA directs outsourced contractors to pay at least Rs40,700 per month, with the revised rate effective from July 1, 2026.
Web Desk: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has approved an increase in the minimum monthly wage for outsourced employees working at airports across the authority’s operations.
Under a notification issued by the PAA, outsourced security personnel and other outsourced workers will receive a minimum monthly wage of Rs40,700.
The revised rate will apply from July 1, 2026, according to the notification.
New minimum wage applies to outsourced contracts
The PAA has directed all outsourced contractors to ensure that employees receive the newly approved minimum wage.
The revised rate will apply to both existing and extended outsourcing contracts, according to the notification cited by Express.
The relevant PAA directorates have also been asked to provide detailed information about the employees covered by the arrangements.
Contractors directed to implement revised wage
The authority has instructed its outsourced contractors to comply with the new minimum wage requirement.
This means contractors providing services to the PAA will be required to ensure that eligible outsourced workers are paid at least Rs40,700 per month under the revised arrangement.
The decision is particularly relevant to workers providing security and other outsourced services at airports operated under the PAA.
Minimum wage increased for 2026-27
The revised PAA wage is aligned with the federal government’s minimum-wage increase announced for the 2026-27 financial year.
The federal government raised the minimum monthly wage from Rs37,000 to Rs40,700, representing an increase of Rs3,700 or 10%, with the new rate taking effect from July 1, 2026.
The PAA notification specifically extends the Rs40,700 minimum to its outsourced employees covered by the relevant contracts.
What the decision means for workers
The move establishes a higher wage floor for eligible outsourced employees working under PAA contracts.
However, the notification concerns the minimum wage. Individual employees may receive higher salaries depending on their job category, contract terms, experience and other applicable arrangements.
The PAA has not indicated in the cited report that all outsourced employees will receive an identical salary beyond the minimum wage requirement.
The revised rate is effective from July 1, meaning contractors are required to account for the new wage level from that date.
