Missiles launched toward the sea spark regional alarm, South Korea and Japan issue warnings
Pyongyang, North Korea | Web Desk — North Korea on Tuesday fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea, escalating regional security concerns in East Asia, according to international news agencies.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the missiles were launched at around 3:50 PM local time from an area near Pyongyang, heading toward the country’s eastern coast. The missiles reportedly traveled approximately 350 kilometers.
Japan’s Coast Guard also confirmed tracking the launches, stating that the suspected ballistic missiles fell into the sea minutes later after reaching an altitude of nearly 80 kilometers.
South Korea’s National Security Office condemned the launch, calling it a provocative act and a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, urging Pyongyang to immediately halt such activities.
According to reports, North Korea has conducted several short-range missile tests in recent months, claiming the launches are part of strengthening its defense capabilities against perceived threats from the United States and South Korea, particularly targeting Seoul’s strategic nuclear deterrence systems.
