No deadline for Imran Khan’s hospital transfer, says PM’s aide

Date:

PM’s aide says the government is awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision on its review plea challenging the order to shift Imran Khan to a private hospital.

WEB DESK: There is no fixed deadline for shifting PTI founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to a private hospital, according to a senior aide to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The prime minister’s aide said the government is currently waiting for the Supreme Court’s decision on its review petition challenging the court’s earlier order regarding Khan’s hospital transfer.

Government awaits Supreme Court decision

The development comes after the government challenged the Supreme Court’s direction to shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.

The government’s review petition was subsequently returned by the Supreme Court registry after objections were raised.

The government is now awaiting further proceedings on its challenge before taking a decision on the hospital transfer.

The prime minister’s aide said the government does not currently have a deadline for moving Khan to the private hospital.

Supreme Court had ordered hospital transfer

The Supreme Court had previously directed that Khan be shifted from Adiala Jail to a private hospital for comprehensive medical care.

The court also ordered that a medical board be constituted and that Khan be moved under strict security arrangements.

The order followed proceedings concerning Khan’s medical condition, access to doctors and meetings with family members.

The court had also sought his complete medical record and directed that arrangements be made for family meetings.

Legal dispute continues

The hospital transfer has become part of broader legal proceedings involving Khan’s medical treatment and access to family members and doctors.

The government’s review plea challenges the earlier Supreme Court order, while Khan’s legal team has maintained that he should receive comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment at a private facility.

The latest statement indicates that the transfer remains linked to the outcome of the judicial proceedings.

Until the Supreme Court decides the review matter, the government has not set a specific deadline for moving Khan to the hospital.

Political and legal focus remains on Khan’s health

The dispute over Khan’s medical treatment has continued amid wider political tensions between the government and PTI.

The Supreme Court has previously stressed that medical treatment should not become a subject of political controversy and has issued directions concerning Khan’s treatment, medical records and family access.

The next steps are expected to depend on the Supreme Court’s handling of the government’s review petition.
