(Web Desk) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed a fine of Rs 10 million on the National Grid Company for violations of operational rules and safety standards, according to an official order issued on Thursday.
NEPRA stated that the penalty was enforced after the company failed to comply with mandatory grid and safety codes. The regulator noted that despite being served a show-cause notice and being given a full opportunity for a hearing, the National Grid Company did not meet the required compliance benchmarks.
The authority expressed serious concern over incomplete work at Jhimpir–II Grid station, declaring the delay a breach of essential safety and operational protocols. NEPRA emphasized that such lapses pose risks to system stability and personnel safety.
In its written order, NEPRA directed the National Grid Company to deposit the Rs 10 million fine within one month. The company has also been instructed to complete all pending work at the Jhimpir-II Grid station and submit a formal compliance certificate confirming the completion.
NEPRA cautioned that further fines will be imposed if the company fails to follow the instructions or continues to violate grid and safety regulations.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict compliance to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted electricity transmission nationwide.
