Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has revealed that he resigned from his coaching position due to issues surrounding batter Babar Azam’s form. In an exclusive interview, Yousuf stated that his resignation was initially rejected but ultimately accepted after he submitted it three times.
Yousuf explained that when Babar Azam struggled to score consistently over three years, he recommended giving him rest and focusing on technique at the academy to regain form. However, his suggestion reportedly faced opposition from team management, prompting him to step down.
The former captain also criticized political interference in Pakistan cricket, calling the situation “the darkest period in the country’s cricketing history,” particularly after the team’s T20 World Cup loss to India.
Yousuf emphasized that current circumstances in the national team are distressing and that incompetent personnel should be removed not only from administrative roles but also from team setups. He warned that until political influence and personal interests are fully eliminated from cricket, Pakistan cannot rebuild a strong team that once brought pride to the nation.
