Missile Debris in Abu Dhabi Kills Pakistani Citizen

Date:

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – Web Desk: At least two people, including a Pakistani national, were killed and several others injured after debris from an Iranian ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi, authorities confirmed on Friday.

Officials said the United Arab Emirates’ air defence system successfully intercepted the incoming missile mid-air, preventing a direct strike. However, fragments from the destroyed missile landed in the Sweihan area, causing casualties and property damage.

Multiple vehicles were reportedly damaged in the incident, highlighting the risks posed by falling debris despite successful interceptions. Emergency services responded swiftly, providing medical assistance to at least three injured individuals.

The Pakistani embassy in the UAE confirmed that one of the deceased was a Pakistani citizen. The embassy expressed condolences to the bereaved family and stated that arrangements are being made to repatriate the body to Pakistan.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing Iran-related conflict in the Middle East. According to officials, a total of eight foreign nationals have been killed in similar incidents in the UAE during the recent escalation.

Security analysts warn that while advanced air defence systems are intercepting most missile threats, falling debris continues to pose a significant risk to civilian populations in urban areas, raising concerns over regional safety and stability.
