Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Miss Universe Pakistan finalist Aneesa Sheikh has issued a heartfelt appeal against cyberbullying and online harassment, urging social media users to prioritise compassion, mental health and respectful dialogue over online abuse.
The Pakistani-American model, singer and academic, who previously represented the country as Miss Grand Pakistan 2022, shared an emotional video and statement on her official social media platforms amid growing online tensions surrounding the Miss Universe Pakistan selection process.
In her message, Aneesa revealed that her commitment to combating online abuse is deeply personal, recalling the loss of her 22-year-old brother, whom she said died as a result of online bullying.
“No competition, no title, and no disagreement is ever worth someone’s safety or mental health,” she said, adding that she would always condemn threats, intimidation, harassment and bullying directed at anyone, regardless of personal differences.
Her statement comes after online criticism and abusive comments reportedly intensified during the ongoing Miss Universe Pakistan selection cycle, with members of the judging panel and participants becoming targets of coordinated online harassment.
Aneesa stressed that neither she nor her management team supports abusive online behaviour and called on her followers to build a community based on empathy, respect and constructive dialogue.
She also encouraged women around the world to challenge toxic online culture by promoting meaningful conversations, supporting one another and thinking carefully before sharing harmful content on social media.
To help address serious online abuse, Aneesa announced that her team has established a dedicated reporting channel where users can submit screenshots of credible threats, targeted harassment and abusive messages.
According to her statement, verified reports will be documented and forwarded to the relevant authorities and legal officials in Lahore and Islamabad for appropriate action.
Her appeal has drawn attention to the growing concerns surrounding cyberbullying, online safety and mental health, reinforcing the importance of responsible social media use.
