Mir Raza case: Doctor who conducted first post-mortem questioned by investigators

Date:

Karachi investigators question medico-legal officer Dr Usama for more than five hours over concerns surrounding the first post-mortem of businessman Mir Raza.

WEB DESK: Investigators have started questioning Dr Usama, the medico-legal officer who conducted the first post-mortem examination of young businessman Mir Raza, as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to sources, the investigative team questioned Dr Usama for more than five hours, focusing on concerns and discrepancies allegedly associated with the initial post-mortem examination.

Doctor questioned over first post-mortem

Sources said investigators conducted detailed questioning regarding the findings and procedures involved in the first post-mortem.

Dr Usama has also reportedly been directed to remain available to assist the investigation in the future.

The questioning comes as the investigative process surrounding Mir Raza’s death continues to face scrutiny, with questions being raised over earlier findings.

Jibran Nasir seeks action against previous investigation team

Meanwhile, lawyer Jibran Nasir, representing Mir Raza’s father, has written to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, seeking action against police officers who were part of the previous investigation team.

In his letter, Nasir called for the officers to be removed from sensitive positions and suspended until the investigation is completed.

The lawyer alleged that, despite the formation of a new investigation team, the probe continues to revolve around the earlier position that Mir Raza’s death was a suicide rather than a murder.

Call for independent investigation

Nasir also called for an independent investigation into alleged negligence by the previous investigation team and alleged irregularities in the investigation record.

He demanded an inquiry against senior police officials, including the DIG East, SSP SIU and SSP East, among others.

The lawyer further urged the Sindh chief minister to personally supervise the investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.

Investigation remains ongoing

Authorities have not yet publicly disclosed the findings of the latest questioning or indicated whether the first post-mortem report will be formally reviewed.

The investigation remains ongoing, while the latest developments have added further scrutiny to the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
