Lahore High Court issues notice to NAB over Rs 7 crore guarantee after Choudhry Sugar case closure

Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Lahore High Court has summoned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a response regarding the return of Rs 7 crore deposited as a guarantee by Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz in the Choudhry Sugar Mills case.

A three-member full bench, headed by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum with Justices Jawad Zafar and Abher Gul Khan, heard the petition. Maryam Nawaz argued that the case had been dismissed by NAB and requested the guarantee amount be returned.

NAB’s lawyer informed the court that final approval from the trial court was not legally required. However, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum remarked that the trial court must also give its final confirmation. The court directed NAB to submit a detailed reply by February 4.
