WEB DESK: A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Dalbandin and surrounding areas of Balochistan, causing alarm among residents, according to a report published on October 23, 2026.
The earthquake’s epicentre was reported to be approximately 15 kilometres east of Dalbandin, at a depth of 53 kilometres, according to information attributed to a seismic monitoring centre. Residents reportedly rushed out of their homes as tremors were felt in the area.
Residents react as tremors are felt
The shaking prompted concern among residents, some of whom left their homes as a precaution.
Initial reporting said no loss of life or property damage had been reported. Authorities would need to complete local assessments to establish whether buildings or infrastructure were affected.
Official confirmation and damage assessment
The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre is responsible for monitoring earthquakes and disseminating seismic information in Pakistan.
The latest accessible official seismic listing did not independently confirm this specific Dalbandin event at the time of checking. The reported magnitude, epicentre and depth should therefore be attributed to the initial news report until an event-specific official bulletin becomes available.
Safety precautions after an earthquake
Residents should remain alert to possible aftershocks and follow instructions issued by local authorities. Anyone inside a building during shaking should drop to the ground, take cover under sturdy furniture if possible, and hold on until the shaking stops. People should stay away from damaged structures and report visible hazards to emergency services.
