(Web Desk) – An eight-year-old boy was attacked by a lion in Lahore’s Sabzazar area on Saturday, leaving him severely injured.
According to police, the incident took place in Lahore’s Sabzazar area, where the child, identified as Wajid Ali, reportedly wandered close to pet lions while playing. The attack occurred due to inadequate safety arrangements and negligence on the part of the owners.
Police said the injured child was shifted to Ganga Ram Hospital for medical treatment, while the farm owners, Umar Iqbal and Ali Iqbal, were taken into custody.
A spokesperson for the DIG Operations said the owners initially attempted to conceal the incident from the police. The injured child was first taken to a nearby hospital, where the accompanying individuals told doctors that the child’s hand had been caught in a machine. However, medical staff later revealed that the injuries were consistent with an animal attack.
Doctors decided to amputate the child’s arm in order to save his life. Acting on information received from independent sources, a police team led by the SP Iqbal Town reached the hospital and launched a formal investigation into the incident.
It is worth noting that just two days earlier, a young girl was also injured in a lion attack. Following that incident, police conducted operations and captured around 16 lions.
