Latif Khosa Urges Supreme Court for Imran Khan Medical Reports

Date:

(Web Desk) – Senior lawyer Latif Khosa has formally approached Pakistan’s Supreme Court, requesting the release of medical reports related to former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, citing concerns over his health condition while in custody.

In a letter addressed to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, Khosa called for transparency regarding the medical status of the jailed political leader. He urged the court to direct authorities to provide complete medical documentation and to allow Khan’s personal physicians, Dr Faisal and Dr Asim, to conduct an independent examination.

According to the letter, Khosa also requested that the court order Khan’s transfer to Al-Shifa Hospital for further treatment if required. The lawyer argued that reports of the PTI founder’s declining health had caused growing concern among his family members, party supporters, and the public.

The letter claimed that despite court directives for a medical examination, Khan’s family was not informed about the process. Khosa rejected allegations that family members and party leaders had been invited but failed to attend, describing such claims as “baseless.” He maintained that the medical check-up was carried out without proper notification, raising questions and apprehensions about transparency.

Khosa stated that excluding family members from medical matters had intensified fears and uncertainty surrounding Khan’s health. He emphasized the need for independent medical oversight and open communication to ensure compliance with legal and humanitarian standards.

The development comes amid ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding Imran Khan, who has been facing multiple legal cases since his removal from office. His health condition has periodically become a focal point in Pakistan’s political discourse, with supporters demanding improved access to medical care and authorities asserting that all procedures comply with legal requirements.

The Supreme Court has not yet publicly responded to the letter. Legal observers say any judicial directive regarding medical access or transfer could carry significant political implications, given the high-profile nature of the case and the broader debate over prison conditions and legal rights in Pakistan.
