Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Police in Lahore have arrested the main suspect in a mobile phone snatching case involving a woman riding a scooter in the Nawab Town OPF area, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation.
According to police officials, the suspect identified as Adnan Yousaf was apprehended in injured condition from the Chuhang area after an intense operation. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had taken notice of the incident and directed police to arrest the suspect within eight hours.
A police spokesperson said the suspect was riding a Honda 125 motorcycle with an accomplice at the time of the incident. Law enforcement agencies tracked the suspect’s movements using geo-fencing technology and human intelligence, setting up multiple checkpoints across the city.
Officials from the DIG Operations office stated that when police signaled the suspects to stop at a checkpoint, they attempted to flee and opened fire on the police team. During the exchange of fire, Adnan Yousaf was injured after being hit by a bullet fired by his own accomplice, who managed to escape the scene.
Police arrested the injured suspect and shifted him to hospital for medical treatment. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, officials confirmed.
A case has been registered at Chuhang Police Station, and further legal proceedings are underway. Authorities said hundreds of CCTV camera footages were reviewed as part of the investigation, with geo-fencing and intelligence support playing a key role in tracing the suspects.
