Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: An Islamabad court has once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Sohail Afridi over a case related to alleged misleading allegations against state institutions.
The order was issued by the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad during a hearing presided over by Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah.
According to court proceedings, the chief minister failed to appear before the court, prompting the judge to reissue non-bailable arrest warrants and direct authorities to ensure his arrest and presentation before the court.
The case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), alleging that Afridi made misleading accusations against state institutions that could damage their reputation.
Following the issuance of the warrants, the court ordered law enforcement authorities to produce the chief minister before the court at the next hearing.
The court adjourned further proceedings in the case until March 26.
Legal experts say the case highlights the growing use of cybercrime laws in Pakistan to address allegations involving digital content and public statements targeting state institutions.
