Sohail Afridi discusses ‘Ehsaas Maa’ program, universal health, and climate resilience with World Bank
Islamabad, Pakistan | Web Desk: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Sohail Afridi met with World Bank President Ajay Banga in Islamabad to discuss enhancing cooperation in health, education, skills, minerals, energy, and climate resilience.
During the meeting, CM Afridi highlighted the launch of the “Ehsaas Maa” program, ensuring comprehensive care for mothers and children from pregnancy to birth. The initiative will provide additional support for newborn girls for three months.
CM Afridi emphasized that primary healthcare and education remain top provincial priorities, with substantial investments being made to strengthen the universal health coverage system, reaching 100% of the province’s population.
The meeting also focused on climate resilience, strategies to make KP food self-sufficient, and prioritizing local community benefits in the minerals sector. Projects are underway to convert barren lands in southern districts into cultivable areas.
The meeting was attended by Finance Advisor Mazamul Islam, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and other senior officials.
