King Charles: Ukraine Needs Post-9/11 Style Unity

Date:

Washington, DC – Web Desk: Britain’s King Charles III has called for a post-September 11-style transatlantic alliance to defend Ukraine, stating that the partnership between Europe and the United States is more critical today than ever before.

Addressing the US Congress during a historic visit to Washington, the monarch said the kind of unity witnessed after the 9/11 attacks is precisely what Ukraine needs now to achieve a “real, just, and sustainable peace.”

“The war in Ukraine is testing NATO’s resolve,” King Charles said. “What is needed today is an unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s defense. The alliance we saw after 9/11 must be revived for this moment.”

The King emphasized that the UK-US partnership cannot rest on past successes alone. Despite historical differences, he noted, both nations have consistently found common ground.

“The UK-US alliance remains one of the greatest in history,” he told lawmakers, receiving bipartisan applause.

King Charles also stressed the importance of democratic values such as tolerance and freedom during an era of global uncertainty. He called for greater focus on environmental protection, humanitarian efforts, and interfaith respect.

His address marked the first time a British monarch has spoken before a joint session of the US Congress. The visit is seen as a high-profile diplomatic gesture reinforcing the so-called “special relationship” between London and Washington amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Neither the White House nor Ukrainian officials have immediately responded to the King’s remarks. However, US lawmakers from both parties welcomed his speech as a powerful symbol of transatlantic solidarity.
