Web Desk | Lahore, Pakistan The Accountability Court in Lahore summoned the Director General of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in person over the closure of the Chaudhry Sugar Mills reference against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
During the hearing, presided over by Judge Rana Arif, the court reviewed NAB’s request to close the case, which was represented by Maryam Nawaz’s counsel, Javed Arshad Bhatti.
The court summoned the NAB DG due to the absence of investigative officers and failure to present complete records. NAB argued that no evidence of corruption was found against Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, requesting that investigations be formally closed.
The case has drawn significant political attention, given the prominence of the individuals involved and the long-standing nature of corruption probes in the country.
