Yasmin and her daughter Ayesha, who ran a garments shop in the basement, described the horrifying incident, stating their 20-year family investment was reduced to ashes within 20 minutes. The fire forced tenants and staff to flee amid chaos and thick smoke, leaving many stranded and in shock. Ayesha said, “It was like witnessing the end of the world. Two lifetimes of work vanished in front of our eyes.” Authorities continue clearing debris while investigating the cause of the blaze. The incident highlights the urgent need for stricter fire safety measures in commercial complexes across Karachi.
