Karachi Press Club Elections 2026: The Democrats Panel Sweeps for 18th Consecutive Term

Karachi — The annual elections of the Karachi Press Club for 2026 witnessed a resounding victory for The Democrats panel, which achieved a clean sweep for the 18th consecutive time, defeating rival panels and independent candidates.

Polling was held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday with great enthusiasm, as a large number of members participated in the electoral process. Out of 1,369 registered voters, 1,011 members cast their ballots.

Election Committee Chairman Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan announced the results at the Press Club. According to the official tally:

  • President: Fazil Jamili (The Democrats) — 536 votes
  • Secretary: Aslam Khan — 493 votes
  • Vice President: Irshad Khokhar — 480 votes
  • Treasurer: Imran Ayub — 622 votes
  • Joint Secretary: Farooq Sami — 556 votes

For the Governing Body’s seven seats, the winners were Abdul Jabbar Nasser, Akhtar Hussain Soomro, Sheema Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Syed Fareed Alam, and Javed Mahar.

The contest featured The Democrats, Democrat, Green Panel, and independent candidates, but once again The Democrats panel maintained its dominance, continuing its long-standing streak of victories at the Karachi Press Club.
