WEB DESK: British screenwriter and producer Jemima Goldsmith has shared photographs from her wedding to Irish-Australian financier Cameron O’Reilly, giving the public a glimpse into the private celebrations held earlier this week.
Goldsmith, 52, married 62-year-old O’Reilly, the son of late Irish businessman, media tycoon and international rugby player Sir Anthony O’Reilly.
The couple had reportedly been dating for around a year after meeting through their work in films and documentaries.
Wedding photographs shared
Goldsmith’s sister-in-law, Jemima Jones, was among those who first publicly shared news of the wedding.
Jones, who is married to Goldsmith’s brother Ben Goldsmith, posted a photograph of herself and Ben dressed for the celebrations and congratulated the newly married couple.
Goldsmith has now shared photographs from the wedding herself, offering a rare glimpse into the private occasion.
Goldsmith’s second marriage
The marriage is Goldsmith’s second and comes 22 years after the end of her nine-year marriage to former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan.
Goldsmith and Khan married in 1995 and divorced in 2004. They have two sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan.
Despite their divorce, Goldsmith has continued to speak publicly about Khan and his imprisonment in Pakistan.
Last month, she appealed to the British government to speak out over his detention, describing the situation as a “human-rights emergency” and raising concerns about his health, isolation and access to family.
She also attended the Pakistan-England Test at Lord’s with her two sons and posted #FreeImranKhan as they continued their public campaign concerning their father’s imprisonment.
Jemima’s continuing connection with Pakistan
Goldsmith has maintained a connection with Pakistan since the years she spent living there with Khan.
In an earlier interview with Geo News, she spoke about her experiences in Pakistan, including her life in Zaman Park, Pakistani society and culture, and her affection for the country and its creative community.
She also discussed her work in film and her desire to portray a different image of Pakistan to international audiences.
Goldsmith wrote and produced the romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do with It?, which featured Pakistani actress Sajal Ali alongside Shabana Azmi, Lily James, Emma Thompson and Shahzad Latif.
The latest wedding photographs mark Goldsmith’s first marriage since her divorce from Khan more than two decades ago.
