Beirut, Lebanon – Web Desk:
An Israeli airstrike on the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh in southern Lebanon has killed at least 10 people and injured several others, according to international media reports. A church was also reportedly hit during the attack.
Israel said the strike targeted a Hamas command center, defending the operation as a security measure. However, some reports initially cited a death toll of up to 12, while most reliable sources have confirmed around 10 fatalities.
Hamas rejected Israel’s claims, calling the attack a brutal strike on civilians and refugees. The group said the targeted building was not a military facility or weapons site but a security post meant to protect camp residents.
Hamas also described the strike as a violation of international law and Lebanon’s sovereignty, warning that such incidents could further escalate regional tensions. The attack adds to growing concerns over cross-border violence and instability in the Middle East.
