Jerusalem, Israel – Web Desk: Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the recent ceasefire agreement linked to tensions with Iran a “historic failure” and accusing the government of strategic mismanagement.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Lapid said the ceasefire exposed what he described as Netanyahu’s political and strategic shortcomings. He claimed that Israel was not meaningfully involved in key decisions surrounding the agreement, raising concerns over national security decision-making.
Lapid further alleged that the government’s policies were marked by “arrogance, negligence, and lack of effective planning,” which he said had caused significant damage to the country’s strategic position.
Despite the criticism, Lapid acknowledged the performance of the Israeli military and the resilience of the public, stating that both had fulfilled their responsibilities during the crisis. However, he argued that the government had failed to meet expectations.
The opposition leader warned that the political and strategic consequences of the ceasefire could take years to repair, signaling rising internal political tensions in Israel.
The criticism comes amid heightened geopolitical developments in the Middle East, where a temporary ceasefire involving Iran has triggered mixed reactions globally, impacting regional stability and diplomatic dynamics.
