Islamabad ATC Orders Imran Khan’s Production in Judicial Complex Attack Case

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Monday ordered authorities to produce Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan at the next hearing of a case linked to violence at the Federal Judicial Complex.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra directed authorities to ensure the former prime minister’s appearance either physically before the court or through video link.

The court also took action against several other PTI leaders nominated in the case.

Former federal ministers Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar and Murad Saeed, along with former senator Shibli Faraz, were declared proclaimed offenders after failing to appear before the court.

The judge also sought details of properties owned by the four proclaimed offenders.

Non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Wasiq Qayyum and PTI MPA Hassan Khan Niazi.

Further proceedings were adjourned until November 5.

The case was registered at Islamabad’s Ramna Police Station and relates to clashes outside the Federal Judicial Complex in March 2023 when Imran Khan arrived for a court appearance in the Toshakhana case.

A large number of PTI supporters had gathered outside the complex during his appearance.

Islamabad police alleged that PTI workers breached security arrangements, damaged property and attacked police personnel during the unrest.

Police also alleged that a police post was set on fire during the clashes.

PTI disputed the police version of events and accused law enforcement personnel of using force and shelling Imran Khan’s vehicle during the confrontation.

The allegations arising from the incident remain subject to judicial proceedings and do not constitute a final determination of guilt against the accused.

Imran Khan remains incarcerated at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail and continues to face proceedings in multiple cases.

Monday’s ATC order specifically concerns his appearance at the next hearing and does not represent a verdict on the allegations in the Judicial Complex case.

The next major development is expected on November 5, when authorities have been directed to ensure Imran Khan’s participation in the proceedings either in person or through video link.
