Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Navy has commenced joint military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, dubbed “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz,” according to Iranian state media.
The drills are being overseen and field-monitored by Major General Mohammad Pakpour, Commander of the Revolutionary Guards. Officials stated that the exercises aim to assess the operational readiness of naval units, review response plans for potential security and military threats in the strategic waterway, and maximize Iran’s geographic and strategic influence in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.
The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions, with U.S. President Donald Trump signaling plans to deploy an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East. Analysts say the exercises reflect Tehran’s intent to assert control over one of the world’s most vital oil transit routes and send a strategic message regarding Iran’s military preparedness.
The exercises include simulated naval operations, coordination between various units, and assessments of rapid-response capabilities, highlighting Iran’s focus on protecting its maritime interests and reinforcing its presence in key regional chokepoints.
