Iran’s IRGC Claims Strike on US Base in Jordan, Says THAAD Radar Hit

Date:

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it destroyed a THAAD radar, a Patriot system and fuel depots at a US military base in Jordan, in an unverified claim amid the ongoing Iran-US conflict.

Amman, Jordan – Web Desk: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday that its forces had carried out fresh strikes on a US military base in Jordan, claiming to have destroyed key American air-defence equipment, including a radar linked to the THAAD missile defence system. The claim was made in a formal statement issued by the IRGC’s public relations department and carried by Iranian state media.

According to the IRGC, the operation also destroyed a Patriot air-defence battery and a C-RAM counter-rocket radar system stationed at the base. The Guard further claimed that fuel storage tanks caught fire as a result of the strikes, and that a helicopter maintenance and repair facility was burned down along with an equipment warehouse. The IRGC described the action as retaliation for what it called repeated American strikes on Iranian territory.
