Tehran, Iran – Web Desk-Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has issued a strong warning to the United States, stating that developments in the Strait of Hormuz are creating a new regional balance of power with global implications.
In a statement shared on social media, Qalibaf accused the United States and its allies of escalating tensions in the strategic waterway, alleging violations of ceasefire understandings and endangering maritime navigation and energy transport routes.
He warned that Iran is fully aware of the situation and suggested that current conditions would become “unacceptable” for Washington if escalation continues. He also stated that Iran has not yet fully activated its strategic response.
According to Qalibaf, a “new equation” is emerging in the Strait of Hormuz, which he said will have far-reaching global consequences.
Meanwhile, the United States has reportedly imposed naval restrictions and monitoring measures in the region since mid-April, citing maritime security concerns. Washington has also announced a naval initiative called “Project Freedom,” aimed at ensuring safe passage for commercial vessels and assisting ships reportedly stranded in the area.
Iran has strongly rejected these measures, further intensifying diplomatic and military tensions in the region.
Analysts warn that the Strait of Hormuz—through which a significant portion of global oil trade passes—has become a critical flashpoint that could impact global energy markets and economic stability if tensions continue to escalate.
