Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s national football team has received Mexican visas ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, removing a key administrative hurdle in the squad’s preparations for football’s biggest tournament.
According to Iranian media reports, the Mexican Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, issued visas to Iranian players and team officials currently attending a training camp in the Turkish capital. The development clears uncertainty surrounding the team’s travel arrangements before the World Cup.
Reports indicate that Mexico will serve as Iran’s base camp during the tournament, while all three of the team’s group-stage matches are scheduled to be played in the United States.
The Iranian squad is expected to travel from Türkiye to Mexico on June 6 to continue preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The visa issue had emerged as a significant concern for Iran in recent weeks, but the approval of travel documents has now eased those concerns and allowed the team to focus fully on tournament preparations.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, making it the largest edition of the tournament in history.
