Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has formally lodged a protest with the United Nations over the United States’ seizure of Iranian aircraft, demanding the immediate release of the assets.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Iran’s ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani described the US action as a “blockade” and likened it to piracy. He argued that the move constitutes unlawful interference in international trade and illegal appropriation of property.
The envoy stated that Iran reserves the right to respond to what it termed as violations by the United States under international law.
Separately, a spokesperson for the Iranian military, Mohammad Akramnia, said that despite a ceasefire with the US, Tehran does not consider the conflict to be over. He added that Iranian forces are maintaining readiness and updating operational plans.
The development comes amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about stability in the region and the potential for renewed escalation.
