Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has announced that US naval and commercial vessels may pass through the Strait of Hormuz, provided they do not engage in any hostile activity, according to Iranian officials.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that vessels will be allowed passage through the Strait of Hormuz under designated safe routes, while ensuring coordination with Iranian security forces.
He emphasized that Iran will guarantee the security of maritime traffic through its established corridors, but ships are expected to maintain communication with Iranian authorities to ensure safe navigation and address technical and security concerns.
The announcement comes after recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who criticized Iran over alleged disruptions in oil transit through the strategic waterway.
Iranian state media also reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued navigation guidance for vessels, advising strict adherence to maritime safety protocols and recommending alternative routes to avoid potential risks such as sea mines.
According to IRGC-mapped routes, ships entering from the Arabian Sea may pass north of Larak Island into the Persian Gulf, while return routes may pass south of the island toward the Gulf of Oman.
Analysts say that while the announcement suggests controlled de-escalation, ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz remain a major risk factor for global oil supply chains, as the waterway is one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
