New Delhi, India – Web Desk: India’s opposition Congress party and sections of the media have intensified criticism of the Modi government, linking it to Pakistan’s growing diplomatic visibility following the reported US-Iran peace agreement.
According to Indian media reports, opposition leaders have described Pakistan’s involvement in international diplomacy and its recognition in the Iran–US understanding as evidence of Islamabad’s increasing global influence, while raising questions over India’s foreign policy direction.
Citing The Tribune, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that references to the agreement as an “Islamabad memorandum of understanding” highlight Pakistan’s expanding role in regional and global affairs.
He added that such terminology reflects Pakistan’s rising diplomatic footprint on the international stage, particularly in West Asia’s evolving political and security landscape.
Indian media reports also suggest that Pakistan’s perceived influence in regional diplomacy is being viewed with concern in strategic and political circles in New Delhi.
The Business Standard, in its analysis, stated that India’s perceived alignment with certain regional policies has raised concerns about its diplomatic positioning and long-term strategic interests.
Commentators in Indian media further argue that the Modi government’s foreign policy approach, particularly its engagement with Western powers, has drawn domestic political criticism and intensified debate over India’s global standing.
Analysts say the growing discourse reflects broader political divisions within India over foreign policy strategy, regional competition, and the balance of influence in South Asia and the Middle East.
The development comes amid heightened regional diplomatic activity, with Pakistan’s role in international negotiations increasingly highlighted by both supporters and critics across the region.
