ICC delegation set to meet BCB as Bangladesh seeks to shift T20 World Cup matches abroad
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is appealing to Bangladesh to play their T20 World Cup matches in India, despite security concerns raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
ICC officials, including Director of Security and Anti-Corruption Andrew Figg, are expected to arrive in Dhaka shortly to hold discussions with BCB and government representatives. The talks come after BCB previously declined to host matches in India, requesting that games against India be moved to Sri Lanka instead.
The ICC’s Indian-origin Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta was reportedly denied a Bangladeshi visa, prompting only a one-member delegation to travel. The ICC aims to persuade the BCB to reconsider its stance and ensure the smooth execution of T20 World Cup fixtures.
This development underscores ongoing logistical and diplomatic challenges ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, highlighting the sensitive balance between security and international cricket commitments.
