How Pakistan Can Still Reach T20 WC 2026 Semis

Date:

(Web Desk) – Pakistan’s chances of reaching the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 are slim but not entirely over.

After suffering defeat against England cricket team, Pakistan must now win their final Super 8 match to stay in contention. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka national cricket team on February 28.

What Pakistan Needs

  • Must Win: Pakistan have to defeat Sri Lanka to reach three points.
  • Depend on New Zealand: Results involving the New Zealand national cricket team will be crucial.

If New Zealand lose both of their remaining matches and Pakistan win against Sri Lanka, Pakistan can finish second and qualify for the semi-finals.

However, if Pakistan win and New Zealand manage to win one match, both teams could end up level on three points. In that case, qualification would be decided on Net Run Rate (NRR).

When Is It Over?

If Pakistan lose to Sri Lanka or the match is abandoned, their semi-final hopes will end immediately.

Meanwhile, England have already secured their semi-final spot from the group, leaving Pakistan’s fate dependent on their final performance and other results.

Cricket analysts say the equation is clear: Pakistan must win convincingly and hope other results fall in their favour to keep their World Cup campaign alive.
