Rawalpindi court sends Hina Javed’s husband Faisal Asghar and domestic worker Zeeshan to 14-day judicial remand.
RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: A Rawalpindi court has sent two suspects in the Hina Javed murder case to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand after police said they no longer required the suspects in physical custody.
The suspects are Hina Javed’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and domestic worker Zeeshan. They were produced before Duty Civil Judge Adil Sarwar Sial on Wednesday after completing a 10-day physical remand.
The court ordered that both suspects be produced again on September 16 and directed police to complete their investigation and submit the challan by then.
Police report alleged evidence recovered
During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that the investigation was still underway but there was no further need for the suspects to remain in police custody.
Police said investigators had allegedly recovered a suspected murder weapon, a screwdriver, along with a piece of cloth and an iron wire from the suspects.
Police also said they recovered the nikahnamas relating to Faisal Asghar’s first and second marriages. A divorce document concerning his first wife, Iram Zaib, was also taken into custody.
According to police, the marriage and divorce documents were subsequently verified through the relevant union council.
Hina Javed was found dead in Rawalpindi
Hina Javed, a 45-year-old digital media executive, was found dead at her home in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area on August 20.
Earlier in the investigation, police said her body was found tied to a shower in the bathroom. Her death prompted authorities to register a murder case and form a special investigation team.
Police subsequently arrested her husband and domestic worker Zeeshan in connection with the case.
Rawalpindi police have described the death as murder rather than suicide. However, allegations against the suspects remain subject to the judicial process and have not been established by a court.
Investigation continues
The latest court order moves the two suspects from police custody to judicial custody while investigators complete the remaining inquiry.
Earlier stages of the investigation included forensic work and DNA testing, while police also questioned Hina’s father-in-law as part of the probe.
The next significant development is expected on September 16, when the suspects are due to be produced before the court and police are expected to submit the challan.
