Karachi: A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer lost his life after a speeding dumper truck collided with his motorcycle near Check Post No. 6 on Jinnah Avenue, Malir Cantt, early Sunday morning. The deceased, identified as ASI Muhammad Ayub Khan, was returning home after completing his duty at the airport.
Despite the implementation of Karachi’s modern automated e-ticketing system, fatal accidents involving speeding dumpers continue unabated across the city.
According to Traffic Post SO Arshad Ali, the accident occurred between 8:35 and 8:40 AM when the dumper, returning empty from the airport, struck the officer’s motorcycle. Traffic police personnel were present at the scene and immediately detained the driver, Anwar Khan, son of Ajmeen Shah. SHO Malir Cantt Agha Abdul Rasheed confirmed that the officer was in uniform and wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. The driver’s license had expired on October 16.
In a separate incident on Shahid-e-Millat Expressway near Baloch Colony Bridge, a speeding car allegedly involved in a street race lost control and hit two motorcyclists, leaving both riders critically injured. The car overturned and sustained heavy damage. Traffic police arrived promptly, detained the young driver—identified as Abdullah—and handed him over to Ferozabad police. Eyewitnesses claimed the accident occurred during a race between two vehicles.
Meanwhile, in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 10-A near Rashid Minhas Road, an 11-year-old girl named Sehr, daughter of Asif, was fatally struck by a speeding unidentified vehicle while crossing the road near Sunday Bazaar. She was a resident of Korangi Chakra Goth.
Another fatal accident occurred near Attock Pump on Northern Bypass in Surjani Town, where an elderly motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a fast-moving bus. Rescue officials reported that the victim could not be immediately identified and his body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
