Lahore, Pakistan — Web Desk: Sources say the federal government had informed Muttahida Qaumi Movement as early as November last year about plans to replace Kamran Tessori as governor of Sindh. According to officials, the Prime Minister’s Office briefed Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Tessori regarding the proposed change.
Sources said several attempts were made to delay the decision, but the matter resurfaced after a meeting in Islamabad on March 11 to discuss the governor’s replacement. MQM sources, however, claim Siddiqui was not invited to the meeting.
Meanwhile, MQM leader Farooq Sattar criticized the move, saying decisions were being taken unilaterally and questioning the justification for remaining in the government under such circumstances.
The federal government has replaced Kamran Tessori with Nihal Hashmi of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) as the new governor of Sindh. Hashmi is scheduled to take the oath of office today.
