Gold Price in Pakistan Drops Rs3,500 to Rs483,036 Per Tola
KARACHI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Gold prices in Pakistan fell sharply on Thursday, August 27, tracking weakness in the international bullion market, while silver moved in the opposite direction and recorded gains.
According to rates reported by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold declined by Rs3,500 per tola, bringing the latest local rate down to Rs483,036 per tola.
The price of 10 grams of gold also dropped significantly, falling by Rs3,001 to Rs414,125.
International Gold Falls $35 Per Ounce
The decline in Pakistan followed downward movement in the international bullion market.
International gold fell by $35 per ounce to $4,605, providing the main external backdrop for Thursday’s downward adjustment in domestic bullion prices.
Gold prices in Pakistan are closely influenced by movements in international bullion markets as well as the rupee-dollar exchange rate, meaning significant global price fluctuations can quickly feed through to local rates.

Silver Price Rises Despite Gold Decline
While gold moved lower, silver prices recorded gains in Pakistan.
The price of silver increased by Rs50 per tola to Rs7,329, while the rate for 10 grams rose Rs43 to Rs6,283.
The contrasting moves underline differing market dynamics between the two precious metals during Thursday’s session.
Gold Market Reopens After Public Holiday
Pakistan’s gold market had remained closed on Wednesday because of the public holiday marking Eid Miladun Nabi.
Before the holiday, gold had already moved lower on Tuesday. The per-tola price fell Rs600 to Rs486,536, while 10 grams declined Rs514 to Rs417,126.
Thursday’s Rs3,500 decline means gold has now fallen Rs4,100 per tola across the latest two trading sessions, based on the association’s reported rates.
Despite the latest correction, prices remain close to historically elevated levels after a strong rally in recent sessions.
Gold Had Surged Earlier This Week
The market entered the week with considerable upward momentum.
On Monday, 24-karat gold had climbed Rs4,200 per tola to Rs487,136, while the 10-gram rate increased by Rs3,601 to Rs417,640.
That followed an even stronger Saturday session, when the domestic price had risen by Rs5,700 per tola.
International bullion had also rallied sharply, with spot gold reaching its highest level since May 14 during that advance.
Thursday’s decline therefore represents a notable correction following the recent surge rather than an isolated move in the domestic market.
For Pakistani buyers and investors, international bullion prices and movements in the rupee against the US dollar will remain important factors in determining the direction of local gold rates.
