Four Militants Killed in Separate KP, Balochistan Operations
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Security forces killed four militants in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said on Wednesday, September 30, as counterterrorism operations continued in the two provinces.
In Mir Ali, North Waziristan, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in which three militants were killed, according to the sources. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered following the operation.
Security sources said militant hideouts in Mir Ali and surrounding areas were also targeted and destroyed. They further said security forces foiled an attempt by militants to stop a truck carrying food supplies near Mir Ali Bazaar.
In a separate operation in Surab district, Balochistan, security forces acted on information about the presence of militants between the Mal Madarsa and Bategu areas. One militant was killed during an exchange of fire, while another escaped, according to the security sources.
Weapons and a motorcycle were recovered from the militant killed in the Balochistan operation, the sources said.
Pakistani security sources described those targeted in Mir Ali as members of “Fitna al-Khawarij” and the militant killed in Balochistan as belonging to “Fitna al-Hindustan.” These are terms used by Pakistani authorities for particular militant groups or networks; the affiliations and foreign-backing claims were not independently verified in the reports reviewed.
The latest actions come amid an intensified counterterrorism campaign in KP and Balochistan. On September 27, the military said more than 70 militants had been killed during several days of operations in Balochistan, including operations in the Shaban area as well as Nushki and Mand.
A day earlier, a suicide bombing at a police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan killed at least 12 people and injured dozens, while gunmen subsequently attacked an ambulance carrying casualties. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack, according to the Associated Press.
Security conditions in KP and Balochistan remain a major concern. Independent monitoring cited in current reporting shows the two provinces accounted for the overwhelming majority of Pakistan’s violence-related fatalities during the second quarter of 2026.
