Florida Bans Sharia Law Under New Constitution-Focused Bill

Date:

Tallahassee, United States – Web Desk: Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, has signed a new law prohibiting the use of foreign and religious legal systems that conflict with the U.S. Constitution, explicitly referencing Sharia law.

According to media reports, the legislation aims to ensure that only the U.S. Constitution and state laws remain supreme within Florida’s legal framework, preventing any parallel or alternative legal systems from operating within the state.

The law also includes provisions to take action against individuals or groups suspected of links to extremist or terrorist organizations, as part of broader efforts to enhance public safety.

DeSantis stated that maintaining a unified legal system is essential for upholding the rule of law, adding that state institutions must be protected from influences that could undermine governance or educational structures.

However, critics argue that the measure could disproportionately affect religious communities and may raise concerns over religious freedom and civil rights. Supporters, on the other hand, say the law is necessary to safeguard legal consistency and state security.

The development comes amid ongoing national debates in the United States over immigration, religious rights, and the balance between security and constitutional protections.
