Fire Erupts at Karachi’s Lighthouse Lunda Bazaar, Several Stalls Reduced to Ashes

Date:

Karachi – A sudden blaze broke out at the bustling Lighthouse Lunda Bazaar, one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs, engulfing multiple clothing stalls in flames and causing significant property damage.

According to rescue officials, the fire originated in the makeshift stalls near Lighthouse and quickly spread across the area. Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade teams rushed to the scene.

Initially, two fire tenders were deployed to control the flames. Later, three additional units from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Rescue 1122 joined the operation, bringing the total to five fire tenders involved in the firefighting effort.

Fire department officials confirmed that the blaze was brought under control in time, and cooling operations are currently underway. Authorities stated that the cause of the fire and the extent of financial losses will be assessed once the area is fully secured.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, though several clothing stalls were completely destroyed. A spokesperson for KMC praised the coordinated response of all emergency services, which helped prevent the situation from escalating further.

This incident raises fresh concerns about fire safety in Karachi’s informal markets, where dense setups and limited infrastructure often pose serious risks.
